Winner emerges in APC governorship primary in Imo State

The Imo state of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has declared Governor Hope Uzodimma, the party's primary election winner, ahead of the crucial gubernatorial polls.

Channels TV reported that Governor Uzodimma was declared the winner on Friday, April 14, by the chairman of Imo State Governorship Primary Election Committee, Rear Admiral William Kayoda (rtd).

Governor Uzodimma polled 63,618 votes to emerge the winner of the APC governorship primary in Imo State.

The primary election was staged at the Ndubuisi Kanu Square in Owerri, the state capital, where the incumbent governor polled a staggering 63,618 votes to emerge victorious in the direct primaries.

Meanwhile, Governor Uzodimma, while expressing his gratitude to his supporters, reiterated his commitment to combatting insecurity, Vanguard reported.

He stated that his administration would continue to pioneer good governance for the greater good of Imo citizens and residents if re-elected for a second term in office.

The Imo state governorship election is slated for Saturday, November 11, as one of the off-cycle polls that will be conducted alongside the Kogi and Bayelsa state gubernatorial elections.

Winner emerges in PDP governorship primary in Imo state

Similarly, the Imo state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the party's gubernatorial candidate.

Senator Anyanwu will go toe-to-toe with Governor Hope Uzodinma of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

The Imo state gubernatorial election is an off-cycle poll that is slated for Saturday, November 11.
