Umar Iliya Damagum: Work experience of Ayu's replacement at PDP

Iliya Umar Damagum has been appointed the Acting Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

His appointment comes after an injunction placed on the National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu from a High Court in Benue State that restrained him from parading himself as the leader of the party.

There has been internal wrangling within the party following Atiku Abubakar's emergence as the presidential candidate of the party in the February 25 presidential elections.

This, according to stakeholders led to the defeat of the party in the election that saw Bola Ahmed Tinubu emerge as the winner.

The woes of the party were further compounded after the PDP in Benue State suspended Ayu for engaging in anti-party activities and non-payment of dues.

The appointment of Damagum was announced by Debo Ologunagba, the publicity secretary of the party on Tuesday, March 28.

Damagum will replace Ayu until the party holds another national convention and elect a new chairman.
