Those who stole our mandate will never see peace - Topless Nasarawa women rain curses

Women in Nasarawa state have taken to the streets to protest against the governorship election results that showed Governor Abdullahi Sule of the All Progressives Congress won his re-election bid.

The State Returning Officer for the governorship election, Professor Tanko Ishaya, announced that Governor Sule of the APC polled 347,209 votes, to beat his closest contender, David Ombugadu of the PDP, who scored 283,016 votes.

The women expressed their displeasure at the Independent National Electoral Commission for declaring Governor Abdullahi Sule winner of the gubernatorial election.

According to them, the results does not state the will of the people as they accused the APC of rigging the election.

In a video making rounds, the women who protested topless rained curses on those responsible for rigging the election. They stated that they did not re-elect Governor Abdullahi Sule.

The women, who protested topless on Wednesday, said they did not vote for Governor Sule. They accused him of rigging himself to power and forcing himself on them.

They chanted songs as they moved on major roads in the state bearing placards with inscriptions such as, ‘Stop the conspiracy against our people’, ‘INEC should reverse the declaration now’, and ‘Our Vote must count. Ombugadu won’.

“We did not vote for Governor Sule, we voted for David Ombugadu, he is the person we want. INEC should check the results and let the will of the people stand,” one of the protesting women said.

The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) accused the APC of conspiring with INEC officials and security agents to manipulate and alter the governorship election results in the state.

It was alleged that the stolen results were taken to various locations including the Government House and the Federal University, Lafia, where APC agents altered and manipulated the results to favour the party.
