Prior to the 2023 presidential election, several political giants from the South West publicly announced their preferred candidates. While some declared support for Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, others chose Peter Obi of the Labour Party.

Some of who are former President Olusegun Obasanjo; Ayo Adebanjo, leader of Afenifere; Dela Farotimi, lawyer and social critic and Mogaji all took to the side of Peter Obi.

Despite being from different tribes, they boldly stood firm and endorsed the Igbo man from Anambra state.

Peter Obi, the former Anambra state Governor received a large support from the Nigerians, especially the youth and major voices in the country’s political landscape.

Their endorsement brought about hatred from some Yorubas in the South West as they described Obasanjo, Adebanjo, Farotimi and Mogaji as betrayals of the Yorubaland.

These men have been tagged as persons trying to destroy Yorubaland following their refusal to support Bola Tinubu’s presidential bid.

The four men were always seen using their platform to promote Peter Obi, both on social media and conducting interviews to trumpet his successful governorship tenure in Anambra state.

Although Bola Tinubu was declared the winner of the 2023 presidential election on March 1, a flier was printed with the faces of these four men. It was captioned “Won Ti Lule”, “Awon Akotileta Yoruba” meaning, “bad belle prodigal children who have fallen.”

However, Nigerians have rebuked this flier and described them as heroes of democracy who stood against evil. Some showered praises on the four political giants saying history will be kind to them.
