Spokesperson of the Bola Tinubu presidential campaign council, Festus Keyamo, have disassociated himself from the vile remark of Bayo Onanuga.

After the voting process in Lagos state, Onanuga took to his Twitter page to share some inciting comments threatening Igbos against interfering in Lagos politics in the future.

He wrote;

"Let 2023 be the last time of Igbo interference in Lagos politics. Let there be no repeat in 2027. Lagos is like Anambra, Imo, any Nigerian state. It is not No Man’s Land, not Federal Capital Territory. It is Yoruba land. Mind your business," he said on Saturday evening.

His comment did not sit down well with some members of his party including Mr Keyamo who immediately dissociated himself, saying he has never written or promoted one tribe over another.

He noted that no one should ever rile a whole tribe as he urged Onanuga to respect other ethnic tribes.

Keyamo tweeted; “I totally deplore tribal politics. I am a product of different regions of Nigeria. I’ve NEVER in my life written or promoted one tribe over another, even in campaigns. No one should ever rile a whole tribe & this applies to all sides - North/South/East/West in Nigeria’s politics.”

Popular political pundit, Kayode Ogundamisi on his part, called out the the president-elect’s aide for making such utterances. According to him, certain comments could lead to a civil war.

“Egbon this tweet is beneath you o! Considering you may also likely be holding a position in the incoming government of BAT,” Mr Ogundamisi wrote on Twitter. “When the other side of your political divide are going low, you shouldn’t be going lower. O wrong o,” the pundit slams Mr Onanuga.

Responding to the backlash, Onanuga said he owes no one any apology as his views expressed on his Twitter page are his personal views.

Onanuga said; "Let me make myself abundantly clear: the views I express on Twitter are my personal views. I don't owe anyone any apology for addressing the existential threats of our people. I am after all, first of all a Yoruba, before being a Nigerian."
