Hoodlums, thugs disrupt voting in Osogbo, Ile-Ife

Some political thugs reportedly snatched ballot boxes at Polling 18, Ward 3, Oja Tuntun, Ile-Ife, Osun State, on Saturday.

A yet-to-be-identified woman said that the thugs disrupted the voting at the polling unit, broke the ballot boxes, and took the ballot papers away.

She said in Yoruba language, “They said that anyone that knows that he will not vote for APC should not stay here.

“I wanted to talk first, but they held different harmful things. I voted and left.

“Not long after I left and got to shop, some people came and said that it is PDP that they are voting for here and not APC.

Some hoodlums have disrupted the voting process in Osogbo, the capital of Osun state, dispersing INEC officials and other electorates.

Voting was ongoing at Ataoja Ward 5 polling units 10 and 11 when some hoodlums arrived at the units and shoot sporadically into the air to disperse INEC officials, party agents and electorates in the queue.

The hoodlums did not cart away with the ballot box but they disrupted the process and forced both officials and electorates from the two units which are close to one another.

In the early hours of today, hoodlums reportedly stormed the Ward 5 unit 10 and 11, Iso-Pako, Alekunwodo area in Osogbo, capital of the state at about 10:30am and chased voters away.

The hoodlums destroyed ballot boxes and tore ballot papers before leaving the area.

Voters, including the aged, scampered to safety immediately the gun wielding men arrived.
