A video dating back to 1979 of former President Nnamdi Azikiwe rejecting the presidential election of Shehu Shagari has been surfaced.

Former Aviation Minister, Fani-Kayode took to his Twitter page to share the video clip while reacting to opposition parties rejecting Bola Tinubu as the winner of the 2023 election.

Recall that on March 1, the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, declared Bola Tinubu, presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress as the winner and president-elect of the just concluded presidential election.

This declaration has since been rejected by the opposition parties as they head to court to contest the announcement by INEC's Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu.

According to Fani-Kayode, Peter Obi of the Labour Party and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party are currently in similar positions as other politicians who refused to accept the winners of the polls.

Sharing his thoughts on Friday, March 10 via a tweet, FFK wrote;

"Why do Nig. politicians call for the annulment of a free & fair election after losing & for the scrapping of the Electoral Commission that conducted it?

"Zik did so after Shagari's 1979 election, Nzeribe did so after Abiola's 1993 election & Obi did so after BAT's 2023 election."
