A video of Tony Elumelu, Chairman of Heirs Holdings, calling Bola Tinubu 'Last Man Standing' when the President-elect paid him a visit days after being declared winner of the 2023 presidential election has raised some questions.

Many wondered if the name was in reference to his recent victory or there is a story behind the name 'Last Man Standing'.

During the visit, Elumelu upon seeing Tinubu alight from his car shouted with a huge smile on his face 'Last Man Standing' with Tinubu responding 'I'm still standing'.

The two men hugged each other as the Heir Holding chairman ushered BAT into his home.

Arise Television anchor, Ruben Abati during a live telecast explained how Bola Tinubu got his name 'The Last Man Standing'.

Ruben said,

"The reference to 'Last Man Standing' is one of the nicknames that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu acquired in the course of his political career so it is not new.

Some people call him 'Jagaban', some people call him 'Last Man Standing', some people call him 'BAT'.

In 2003 election, when President Olusegun Obasanjo was seeking a second term, he tried to play the ethnic politics to get the government in the South West, belonging to the Action Congress AC to support him.

His strategy was to talk to all the governors. All the governors cooperated but as it turned out, having told people to vote for Obasanjo in the presidential election, the people not been so sophisticated, in the gubernatorial election voted again for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but Bola Ahmed Tinubu was a smarter guy, he held on to Lagos and he was the only one who survived out of all the AC Governors in the South West.

So, he became known as the 'Last Man Standing'.
