Reno Omokri, a leading member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has responded to claims by supporters of Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) that their principal won 19 states in the just concluded presidential elections.

Recall that Obidient argued on social media that Obi won 19 states and the Federal Capital Territory, as well as 25% in two-thirds of the states, which would meet the requirements for victory.

They argue that Bola Tinubu who was declared president-elect by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) won only seven states while Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) won eight states, and Rabiu Kwankwoso of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) won two states.

“My People, it’s no longer news that Peter Obi defeated Tinubu by wide margin. This is the results obtained from IReV Portal: PDP: 8 States. APC: 7 States. NNPP: 2 States. LP: 19 States + FCT + 25% in 2/3. Peter Obi MUST be declared the winner & some people must go to jail!” A Twitter user, NEFERTITI aka @Firstladyship, tweeted.

Reno Omokri responded with a photo of a low turnout rally held by Obi with the caption: "Peter Obi won #NigerianElections2023 in 19 states and the FCT and should be declared President-elect by INEC. Here is the evidence!"

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been criticized for its handling of the election, particularly for the delay in uploading the results onto the INEC Result Viewing (IREV) portal.
