Peter Obi's response to Ghanaian reporter, Komla Klutse who inquired about his next line of action after Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was declared president-elect has made the rounds on social media.

Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party was responding to questions from reporters at the party's press conference in Abuja held on Thursday, March 2.

The reporter from TV3, a television station located in Accra, Ghana's capital asked the former governor what relief he was seeking in court and also to respond to remarks by the ECOWAS and African Union observer missions that have described the election as generally fair.

Obi, who said he won the election said that he prefers to pay attention to what Nigerians are saying rather than what observers like the EU and NRI are saying.

"Let me tell you. Throughout my comments, I didn’t think to mention the comment of observers because of you look at it, there are so many observers like EU, NRI and so many who have said we didn’t meet the standards, who has said it’s rigged. So let us not talk about what the observers are saying but what Nigerians are saying. This is a Nigeria problem and I want to hear Nigerians."

Speaking further, he asked Mr Klutse if he thought the election was fair.

He said: "You are from Ghana, is this fair in Ghana? I have been to your country and I have witnessed elections, the earlier we start saying when things are wrong, my brother, Africa will be good."

"It doesn’t matter to me that it happened here, don’t be part of that, Africa needs to be fixed and we all have to tell ourselves the truth. This is very unfair. It’s the least expected of us."

Peter Obi has vowed to challenge the result of the election in court, saying he, rather than Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), won the election.

In the result declared by INEC, Peter Obi came third behind Mr Tinubu and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party.
