President-elect Bola Tinubu has said he is aware that many Nigerians did not vote for him in the 2023 presidential election held on Saturday, February 25.

He said this during his speech presentation after he received the Certificate of Return on Wednesday, March 1.

Having lost his own Lagos state where he was a two time governor, Tinubu sent a warm embrace to people who are filled with anger and disappointment that their preferred candidate did not win the election.

He urged his supporters to continue to have faith in his mission. However, he asked those who did not support him not to allow their disappointment keep them from realising the historic national progress.

Elated Tinubu called on the entire country to join hands and work with him in moving the nation forward.

His words;

"To you the people, especially the youth, I will work day and night. I will work to my utmost best of my ability to make Nigeria better.

"I know many did not vote for me and your are disappointed that your candidate is not where I stand now. I understand you are hurt, angry and disappointed, I send the embrace and comfort of one family member to another."

To my supporters, I ask you to continue to have faith in the mission that we have articulated. To those who didn't support me, I ask that you do not allow the disappointment of this moment to keep you from realizing the historic national progress we can make by working together.

We must join hands in this common endeavour to pull the nation through, in a phrase, I am asking you to work with me."
