Broadcast journalist Rufai Oseni has advised that the back-end of the server of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) should be subject to an independent audit following the breakdown in transmitting results from the polling units to the result viewing portal (IRev).

The electoral body has come under intense scrutiny after it failed to transmit presidential results from the polling units in real-time. It only began transmitting the results after several calls on social media on the night of Saturday, February 25.

Reacting to the topic, Rufai called for an incident report on the servers while noting that they must be subject to a forensic audit.

"That is why I am asking for an incident report from the server, if the server was overstretched because of multiple actions that were loading, it will show it. If the server was not on, it will also show it. And that is why forensics should go into it."

"Whatever happens, whatever reports that were given, should also be forensically evaluated. INEC's backend must be opened up to independent forensic experts to be able to ascertain what happened to the server."
