Akin Osuntokun, the Director-General of its Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) has revealed that one supporter of the party has had his hand amputated following the violence that erupted at the Tafawa Balewa Square when the party held its Lagos rally.

Osuntokun, who was a guest on Channels Television's political program, The Verdict 2023 stressed that he isn't sure of the preparedness of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) with less than 5 days to the presidential election.

He also alleged that supporters of the Labour Party have been discriminated on in an attempt to claim their PVCs.

"I won't score the preparations 100 percent and there are some factors that challenge that conclusion. That is because of the rise of voter violence and we have been a victim of that, especially in Lagos in which INEC people respond to people looking for their PVCs discriminatorily."

"When we had the rally in Lagos, our supporters were prevented in certain areas from coming into the Tafawa Balewa Square. As we speak, one has had his hand amputated. So when all this happens into consideration, you cannot be confident that this is going to work well."

The mega rally held by the Labour Party on Saturday, February 11 was marred with violence.

Several supporters of the candidate told reporters that they were attacked by hoodlums on their way to the Tafawa Balewa Square, the venue of the mega rally.

But the state Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Mr Seye Oladejo, in a statement made available to Sunday PUNCH denied the involvement of the party in the attacks.

He said, “It is irresponsible and reckless of the tottering party to level such a wild allegation without any substantial proof. The APC as the ruling party in Lagos State remains the biggest stakeholder to ensure that there’s no breakdown of law and order.”
