Femi-Fani Kayode, Special Projects and New Media Director of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) believes the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar must be arrested for defrauding Nigerians through the use of Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs).

Fani-Kayode who made the call in an interview on Channels Television said that the security agencies should and must refer to the leaked tape released by one Michael Achimugu of the former vice president confessing siphoning public funds to finance party activities and his personal interests while serving as vice president under the Olusegun Obasanjo administration.

The former Minister of Aviation who was recently in the grasp of the Department of State Services (DSS) opined that Atiku must be investigated before any member of the APC is.

"If anybody should be investigated, arrested, prosecuted and jailed, then it should be their presidential candidate. Why, because he confessed in a tape, which we all heard speaking about hoe he defrauded the country and stole public funds through SPVs (Special Purpose Vehicles)."

We discussed this before that before any of them casts aspersions against any of us, whether our candidate, our media director, our party of any of our party leaders, let Atiku come and explain this SPV."

Fani Kayode had in a social media post alleged that Atiku had a secret meeting recently with the military hierarchy mentioning a possible coup plot ahead of the general elections.

He has denied ever making those statements.

However, Atiku has since commended the Department of State Services, DSS, for inviting Fani-Kayode, FFK.

FFK is expected to substantiate his comment about Atiku and the military.

The Defence Headquarters condemned the claim.

A statement by Atiku’s Special Assistant on Public Communications, Phrank Shaibu called on the DSS to carry out a thorough probe.

Recall that one Michael Achimugu who claimed to have worked closely with the former Vice President for years has released a series of videos tagged “AtikuGate” to expose the alleged corrupt past of his former boss to educate Nigerians on the dangers of voting him as their next president.

In one of the videos, Achimugu leaked an alleged audio conversion between him and Atiku, where the PDP presidential candidate was heard admitting to setting up SPVs (special purpose vehicles) for the purpose of siphoning public funds to finance party activities and his personal interests while serving as vice president under the Olusegun Obasanjo administration.

According to Achimugu, Atiku collected N100 million from the convicted former Governor of Plateau State, Joshua Dariye, from the N1.16 billion ecological fund released to the state by the Ecological Fund Office that was being chaired by Atiku at the time.
