Banks shut operations in Ondo

Commercial banks have shut operations in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

All banks The Nation visited at Oba Adesida road and Alagbaka were under lock and key.

Jimoh said the bank’s security personnel informed them that the banks were shut due to fears of attacks.

In Ikare-Akoko, Akoko Northeast local government area, banks were also not opened for businesses.

Farmers and traders who came to Ikare for banking transactions from distant places like Ikakumo Afin Ipesi Igasi.and Eriall were disappointed.

A businessman, Sunday Omogboye, who came from Ikakumo to collect money said many people were suffering in the villages due to lack of cash.

Another customer in Akure said he was at the bank due to the Supreme Court ruling on the CBN cashless policy.
