'It'll happen' – Joshua on Fury bout

Two-time heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua is confident that the much-anticipated all-British heavyweight fight with Tyson Fury will happen.

Attempts by both parties to reach an agreement for a heavyweight showdown have fallen on the rocks.

In 2021, a two-fight deal between Joshua and Fury was signed starting with a clash in Saudi Arabia but a US court ruled out the fight citing that Deontay Wilder was in line to face the Gypsy King, this stalled the agreement process as Joshua went ahead to fight Usyk in September.

In recent times, the duo agreed to face each other in Cardiff on December 3 but Joshua failed to meet Fury's self-imposed deadline resulting in another collapse of talks.

Regardless of all the disappointment in trying to make the mouth-watering all-British affair bout happen, the former heavyweight champion, Joshua is still hopeful that the fight will go down.

“It will happen. It will happen though. Same generation,” the British-born Nigerian told DAZN as quoted by PUNCH Sports Extra.

“Aside from the entertainment side, just as two competitors, two fighters, he’s definitely a fighting man and what people fail to realise – like they say ‘the social media stuff is annoying’ but culturally speaking from Tyson Fury’s culture, the Gypsy culture. You’ve watched the documentaries on Netflix and stuff it’s embedded in his culture.

Meanwhile, Joshua is expected to return to the ring in February 2023, but his opponent remains a mystery.
