He’s got something special - Slaven Bilic talks up the qualities of forgotten Super Eagles winger

The Nigeria international is looking to get his career back on track with the Hornets following a slow start to life on Vicarage Road

Watford FC manager Slaven Bilic has expressed confidence in the ability of Samuel Kalu to help the Hornets during the course of the campaign.

Kalu made only four appearances in the Premier League last term for the Golden Boys after joining from Girondins Bordeaux.

The 25-year-old has also featured in just four league games this term – all from the bench – as he aims to become more influential at the Championship side.

Kalu has enjoyed more game time under new Watford boss Bilic, and the Croatian tactician reveals he values the quality of the Nigerian winger.

“He’s a player that has got more than something,” said Bilic, as per Watford observer.

“He wasn’t fit when we arrived, he still isn’t fully fit, but he’s got something special: a change of pace, a change of direction, good on the ball. His first touch and movement are good, he strikes a ball well.

“He’s a very useful player and we are expecting a lot from him.”

Kalu, at the weekend, showed exactly why Slaven Bilic is counting on him.
The Nigerian playmaker was introduced in the second half of Watford’s away clash at Wigan, with the scores locked at 0-0.

But the former Bordeaux man’s contribution proved crucial as Watford scored late through Joao Pedro to clinch back-to-back victory.
