INEC reveals top six states with highest registered voters

Analysis of the preliminary register has shown the six states with the highest registered voters ahead of the 2023 general elections.

The states are Lagos, Kano, Kaduna, Rivers, Katsina and Oyo.

According to checks by Daily Post, Lagos leads with 7,075,192 registered voters, followed by Kano, which has 5,927,565 registered voters, while Kaduna, Rivers, Katsina and Oyo have 4,345,469; 3,532,990; 3,519,260 and 3,275,045 registered voters, respectively.

The latest statistics were disclosed by the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu on Wednesday, October 26 at the commission’s quarterly meeting with political parties in Abuja.

He confirmed that the voter register had gone up to 93.5m.

He also stated that the commission is working hard to ensure the completion of printing of remaining Permanent Voter Cards for new voters, adding that Nigerians would soon be informed of the detailed plan to ensure a seamless collection of the PVCs.
