President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) is set to honour Nigerian-born British boxer, Anthony Joshua and others with National awards.

According to reports, the President wants to honour the two-time heavyweight champion for his contribution to boxing and for impacting the Nigerian youth.

Joshua, who will trade punches with his fellow British heavyweight boxer, Tyson Fury will be awarded the Officer of Federal Republic (OFR) alongside 64 others in the same category.

The award ceremony will hold at the State House, Abuja on October 11.

The former heavyweight champion was born in the United Kingdom to Nigerian parents. His root can be traced to the Yoruba ethnic group.

AJ recently lost his rematch fight against Oleksandr Usyk at the Jeddah Super Dome in Saudi Arabia.

The 32-year-old failed to reclaim his lost belt after he was defeated for the second time by the Ukrainian via a split decision.
