The Federal Government has honoured its promise to the late Stephen Keshi and fourteen other members of the 1994 Super Eagles team.

The Buhari-led government on Thursday, September 29 handed over the Certificate of Occupancy and other real estate documents to the family of the late Stephen Keshi and some ex-internationals of the Super Eagles side that won the 1994 Nations Cup in Tunisia.

This was in line with President Buhari's earlier promise this year to give houses to 22 members of the 1994 Super Eagles team from the Housing units under the National Housing Program.

Keshi's family received a three-bedroom flat in Delta State.

The handing-over ceremony was held at the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing as disclosed in a statement by Blessing Lere-Adams who is the Director of Press and Public Relations.

At the ceremony, Solomon Labafilo who is the Director of Public Building and Housing assured the remaining nine members of the team that their own houses together with their Certificate of Occupancy will arrive soon.

Stephen Keshi was a key member of the historic 1994 team. He captained the Super Eagles to secure its first World Cup ticket in 1993 and also led the team to win the Nations Cup a year later.

He also won the Super Eagles last Nations Cup trophy in 2013 as head coach.
