A US-based Ghanaian footballer has died in a gory car crash on Wednesday, September 28.

The 23-year-old identified as Eugene Quaynor lost his life in the fatal accident which occurred at East 71st Street and South Yale Avenue after an SUV ran into his car from behind causing his car to catch fire.

Eyewitnesses say that the late footballer who was studying Sports Management at Oral Roberts University attempted to break out of the car, but he stuck and lost his life in the process.

The suspect was believed to be under the influence of alcohol, according to the report by the Tulsa Police Department (TPD).

Quaynor gained a scholarship to study in the US after finishing his first degree in Ghana.

He was the captain of the Oral Roberts football team at the time of his passing.
