Obidients four million march in Lagos gathers steam, buses made available for patrons

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party might not be the top candidate going into the elections next year, however, political commentators and analysts will have a hard time predicting the outcome of the polls scheduled for next year.

As the support for the former Anambra governor grows organically, supporters of Obi who are also called Obidients are putting their money where their mouth is by investing heavily and committing themselves to rallies that have since become the pivot of his campaign.

A recent opinion poll by Blomberg, a multinational news portal also shows that Peter Obi will be president of Nigeria if elections were conducted during this period.

According to Blomberg, a clear majority of respondents said they intend to vote for Peter Obi, a former state governor, in elections scheduled for February. The results of the survey conducted for Bloomberg News by Premise Data Corp. were published on Wednesday as the official campaign to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari kicked off.

While many may argue that the poll was largely dominated by Nigerians in the diaspora who do not have a vote, the successful rallies in Port Harcourt, Enugu, Taraba, Jigawa, and Ebonyi are a pointer that Nigerians in Nigeria have also jumped on the Peter Obi wagon.

Saturday, October 1, Nigeria's independence day will see Obidients duplicate their effort in already scheduled rallies slated for Kano and Lagos, two of the biggest cities in Nigeria.

Despite the setback of not being able to converge at the iconic Lekki Tollgate, the venue of the massacre that saw hundreds of Nigerians lose their lives two years ago, patrons are been advised to converge at Lakowe (Mayfair), Sangotedo (Skymall), Ajah (Ilaje), Jakande (Gbara) and Iyana Oworo footbridge.

A flyer that was sighted on the Facebook page of Dr. Yusuf Datti Ahmed, the vice presidential candidate directs patrons to converge at the pick-up points at 7 am.

Meanwhile, details of a scheduled one million man march in support of Peter Obi, in Kano have emerged.

Under the auspices of Obi-Datti Frontiers - Kano Chapter, the march is scheduled to start from Sarinyaki by Igbo Road between 8 am and 9:30 am.

This follows the official flag-off of the campaign for the 2023 general elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission on Wednesday, September 29.
