Former Super Eagles Coach Austin Eguavoen had paid tribute to Mikel Obi, who announced his retirement from professional Football.

Mikel announced his retirement on Tuesday, after almost 20-years, since his debut in youth football.

Eguavoen coached the Midfielder at U17 level and the senior national national team, and they both won bronze at the African Cup of Nations in 2006.

“Congratulations on your retirement, John Mikel Obi.

“An honor coaching you at the FIFA U17 World Cup 2003, AFCON 2006 & AFCON 2008. Enjoy the good life,” Eguavoen said in a post on social media.

Mikel retires from football as the most decorated Nigerian player, winning the African Cup of Nations, and UEFA Champions League, Europa League and Premier League titles with Chelsea.
