ISWAP terrorists announce presence in South-West Nigeria

The Islamic State-backed faction of Boko Haram, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP)has claimed responsibility for the attack on a police vehicle in Ondo State.

The insurgency formerly known as Jamā'at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da'wah wa'l-Jihād
said its men carried out the attack in Ipele, Owo Local Government Area of the state.

ISWAP in a statement said it targeted an operational vehicle of the police with machine guns, which led to its damage but failed to mention if there were casualties.

The caliphate has said that it had expanded to Abuja, Kogi, and Taraba state.

It was gathered that in May 2022, the insurgent, claimed responsibility for an explosion that destroyed an ancient town, Kabba in the Kogi West Senatorial District.
