The Speaker of Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi, has called on Muslims to use the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir celebration to pray for the peace and progress of the country.

Abdullahi, in a statement by his Press Secretary, Mr Jibrin Gwamna, on Tuesday in Lafia, said Muslims and people of other faiths should continue to pray for the peace, progress and development of the nation.

He enjoined Muslims to also remember to use the occasion of the festival to pray for God’s intervention in the spate of insecurity and other emerging challenges facing the country.

The speaker urged Muslims to reflect on the significance of the festival which according to him, is sacrifice, love and friendship to one another, especially the less privileged.

He also called on all Nigerians to tolerate and live in peace with one another, irrespective of their religious, political or ethnic differences, in order to build an egalitarian society.

Besides, Abdullahi called on religious, political, traditional and community leaders to always preach peace and unity among their people for development to thrive.

The speaker further urged Nigerians to be law abiding, pray and support leaders at all levels to succeed.
