Enyimba is very much in the title race - Oladapo

Enyimba’s skipper Austine Oladapo says the club hasn’t given up hope of winning the Nigeria professional football league this season.

The Aba Elephants are currently occupying fifth positions in the league, sixth points adrift leaders with six matches left to play.

Enyimba has been far from their usual best season and the lastest defeat to Akwa United left them needing a miracle to finish on top of the pile.

In a chat with brila.net, Oladapo can’t seem to figure out, why many have ruled them out of the race when they are actually in the title picture.

“We are still very much in the race. There are 18 points to fight and we are just six behind Akwa United.” He told brila.net.

“We have seen so many examples of teams that have hung in there, kept working and got their rewards as well.

“We have to keep doing our jobs and not listen to what people are saying outside”.

“Something might happen in the next few weeks and we have to be there to take advantage. We just have to think about our own performances and that’s the only thing we can control. We have got loads to play for, and as a team, we’ve got loads to improve on.”

“To build momentum by going on the pitch and playing well is important. We have had a couple of setbacks at home, before the disappointment in Uyo. We have to recover mentally and physically. It’s not an easy thing to do, but we have to do it,” he told brila.net.
