Lalong, warns against divisive discourse

Governor Simon Lalong Governor Simon Lalong

Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau has warned against fiery rhetoric and leader criticism that could jeopardize the country's business existence.

This was declared by Lalong during an interdenominational Church Service conducted on Sunday at the Government House Chapel in Rayfield, Jos, as part of celebrations commemorating Nigeria's Democracy Day.

“We cannot destabilize the country by using derogatory language or by supporting persons or groups who take pleasure in undermining Nigeria's sovereignty and disparaging its leaders.

”Of course, we have the right to criticize and hold our leaders accountable, but this should not come at the expense of the country's corporate existence,” he said.

He stated that, despite the fact that Nigeria is currently confronted with numerous issues such as insecurity, unemployment, and poverty, optimism for a better future should not be abandoned.

The governor stated, "We should never lose up on our country or make terrible confessions about its fate."

He stated that both leaders and the electorate must work together to find long-term answers to the country's current issues.

He asked the Church in Plateau and Nigeria to spread and sustain its campaign for political responsibility, truth, fairness, and justice so that Nigerians might have faith in the democratic system of government and reap its benefits.
