Governor Akeredolu halts all activities of the Fish Sellers Union Governor Akeredolu halts all activities of the Fish Sellers Union

Three fish sellers have been reported dead after a building collapsed on them at Arakale area of Akure in Ondo State.

The women were said to be sitting under the building in the popular Oja Oba market when the building fell on them.

The Nation reports that the women were said to be hiding from a task force of the Fish Sellers Association of Nigeria.

Some men hired to pull down the building were at the site working when the incident occurred.

One of the victims identified as Dorcas Ajayi was reportedly hiding from the Union task force whom she owed N1000.

According to her husband, his wife hid her goods in the building to prevent it from been seized by the task force.

Mr Ajayi narrated that he heard the news of his late wife whiles he was working on his farm.

However, the deceased's son, Segun, blamed the death of his mother on the workers carrying out the demolition.

The incident caused the fish sellers to stage a protest to the Ondo State Governor's office.

The fish sellers are calling for total disbandment of the Fish Sellers Association as they complain of the continuous hardship on their business.

The protesters claim the deceased was stopped from purchasing fish from any cold room in Akure due to her inability to complete her N1,000 payment for the registration form.

Senior Special Assistant on Security Matters, Alhaji Jimoh Dojumo, who addressed the protesters on behalf of the governor assured that the state will conduct investigation into the incident.

Governor Akeredolu however, halted all activities of the Fish sellers union in the state.
