 • Some APC governors have reportedly arrived in Calabar as they intensify efforts to lure Governor Ayade into the ruling party

 • The governors have been scheduled to meet with the Cross River state governor on Thursday morning, May 20

 • It is not immediately clear if Governor Ayade will listen to them and join APC or remain in the PDP

Some selected governors of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) stormed River State capital, Calabar on Wednesday, May 19 in an attempt to persuade Governor Ben Ayade to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The APC delegation was led by the national caretaker committee chairman of the APC, Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State.

Legit.ng gathers that Buni arrived in Calabar on Wednesday evening to join his Imo counterpart, Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo state who had been on the ground.

The visit by the APC has led to an internal crisis within the Cross River state chapter of the PDP.

Legit.ng notes that the APC governors' visit is coming almost two weeks after some PDP governors held a meeting in Cross River state to stop Governor Ayade's planned defection.

The PDP delegation was led by the party's governors’ forum chairman, Sokoto state governor, Aminu Tambuwal.

Tambuwal was accompanied by the governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa, and his Enugu state counterpart, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.
