'You support Pantami, we support Mbaka' - Nigerians knock Presidency

The public altercation between Father Mbaka, the spiritual director of the Adoration Ministry (AMEN), and President Buhari has cast more light on the state of the relationship between the duo.

The public debacle started after the cleric chastised and called for the impeachment of the president following his handling of the security crisis in the country.

He accused the current administration of “maintaining grave silence” despite the widespread killings in Nigeria. This comes after supporting the president in the 2015 and 2019 general elections.

Reacting to the comment by Mbaka, the presidency through Garba Shehu, a presidential spokesperson in a Facebook post on Friday, April 30, 2021, alleged that the cleric is disgruntled because he once demanded contracts as compensation for supporting Buhari two times to win the presidency.

According to Shehu, Buhari refused and that was why Mbaka made a u-turn and is now attacking the current government. This revelation came as a surprise to some Nigerians.

While some are of the opinion that the government is only trying the tarnish the image of the cleric, others have described Mbaka as a hustler.

Check out some reactions

@MrJoshuaSampson stated: "Does the fact that Mbaka went to lobby contract take away the issue of insecurity? Is that why there is insecurity? Me that I’ve been calling on the President to tackle insecurity, how many contractors have I gone to Aso Rock with? Mbaka has already embarrassed himself, no need!"

@FeestusGreen commented: "Ejike Mbaka: God told me to prophesy against President Buhari. "APC to Mbaka: Do not forget that you're one of us. We know where your skeletons are. We will reveal them to Pope, Vatican & Nigerians. Sush! "Most religious/political leaders in Nigeria are politically exposed."

@TheoAbuAgada added: "We may not like Father Mbaka but this gutter behavior of always blackmailing and hounding those who criticize the President by his aides is nauseating."
