Governor Lawrence Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu has described how his plea to President Buhari in the wake of the Nimbo, Uzouwani massacre fell on deaf ears.

According to a Facebook page, Ndigbo News, the governor said he was put on hold for over one hour and 15 minutes. Ugwuanyi, who led the largest opposition party, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to victory in the state after the 2019 elections said he made the calls in the presence of 13 men and 4 women.

Ndigbo News reported that a presidential aide who is unknown said the president will get back to me.

He later said the president through his aide would do something about it after more than 4 hours. He said his relative, Sly Idoko was one of such people who witnessed the call.

On hearing that the police have not arrived at Uzo Uwani, I called GOC 82 division for help. I have referred to the presidency again.

This time around, I was put on hold for nearly 2 hours again. While waiting to speak to the president, news came in that the attack I was planning to prevent has actually taken place, Ndigbo News reports.
