There's serious gender inequality in APC - Buhari's minister cries out

Pauline Tallen said gender inequality is obvious in the APC's current leadership structure Pauline Tallen said gender inequality is obvious in the APC's current leadership structure

Women in the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday, March 12, kicked against what they described as gender inequality in the ruling party's structure and constitution.

The female folks were represented by the minister of women affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen, who said the absence of women in APC's structure is a cause for worry, The Nation reports.

She insisted that no gender should get beyond 60% representation as against the other in the party's affairs.

The minister called for more female participation and representation in all elective seats not only in the APC but also in the country.

Her argument: "We need more women in the party structure and for all elections. We are demanding that no gender, women or men should occupy more than 60% as against the other. We are demanding for gender equality.

"We are demanding for full participation and representation of women in the party structure and all elective seats in our dear country Nigeria.”

According to her, despite the fact that Nigeria is seen by other African nations as a leader, the country is still lagging behind in the area of female participation in both national and regional politics.
