Lagos partners FG on poverty alleviation

The Lagos State Government has partnered the Federal Government to improve the standard of living of the vulnerable residents of the state.

The state Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Yetunde Arobieke, during two-day training onboarding of independent monitors for the Integrated National Social Lagos State Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment and the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, said the collaboration had yielded expected result.

Arobieke, who said the state government partnered with the Federal Government under five different poverty alleviation programmes, noted that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu supported the initiative due to his passion for alleviating poverty and making the various empowerment programmes work.

She said, “The state government through the ministry will continue to reach out and partner with organisations whose programmes and initiatives will be beneficial to the residents of the state and plans are being put in place to replicate the various empowerment initiatives in the state.

“The cash transfer part of the programme has proven to be very effective and with far-reaching effects and mileage on the lives of the vulnerable households in the state. I want to urge residents of the state to always obtain authentic information about the government’s efforts and appreciate what the present administration is doing to eradicate poverty.”

The representative of the Minister for Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajia Jumai Ali, urged the trainees to shun any act contrary to the expectations of the government from them.
