Federal Governemnt extends NIN-SIM linkage by eight weeks

The Federal Government has announced that the ongoing National Identification Number and Subscriber Identity Module integration exercise has been extended by eight weeks.

The announcement which was disclosed on Tuesday morning, February 2, 2021, will have a new deadline which has been slated for April 6, 2021.

Prior to this announcement, the Federal Government on December 15, 2020, said after December 30, 2020, all non-registered SIMs would be blocked.

Due to the population of the country and the large numbers of unregistered SIMs the date was again extended to January 19, 2021.

It has once more again extended the deadline dates for subscribers without NIN fromm December 30, 2020, to February 9, 2021. However, some organisations are calling for an extension or a complete desolution of the NIN registration.
