The two major political parties in Anambra State claim they are satisfied with the timetable for the 2021 gubernatorial election.

The timetable was released by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Tuesday, January 19, 2021.

As stated on the timetable, the election will hold on November 6, 2021, while June 10 to July 1 has been fixed for the conduction of party primaries.

Submission of candidate forms by parties will end on August 6, while campaigns will commence on August 8 and end on November 4.

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra, Ndubuisi Nwobu, in a press briefing noted that the party was pleased with the timetable.

“We are comfortable with the timetable, it has not come to us as a surprise, if the date had come earlier than that, we would not have had any issue because we have been doing our work,” he said.

Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Basil Ejidike, on his part, said his party is prepared for the upcoming election. Adding that lessons have been drawn from the previous elections.

“It is not a surprise to us, INEC made it known before now that the election would come up in November, we have been getting prepared.

“We learnt our lessons from what happened in the past and I want to assure that it will not happen again.

“Before now, we are like a house divided but this time, no one will be left behind, we are going into the election as one body,” he said.
