Minister urges youths to embrace entrepreneurship, others

The Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr Sunday Dare, has called on youths to embrace knowledge-based technology, innovation and an entrepreneurial spirit to promote businesses in the country.

Dare said this during the Junior Achievement Nigeria’s annual flagship event, National Company of the Year Competition, held virtually on Saturday.

He said, “Nigeria has a future in the youths. This younger generation is different from the older generation. We see the uptake of technology growing wide, the youths are trying their hands at business and they are coming up with ideas, using technology as an enabler.

“They should do more in embracing knowledge-based technology to promote and develop their businesses and solving complex societal issues; that is how we can change our world.”

Dare also appealed to the government at all levels and the private sector to support the enterprise of Nigerian youths.

He added, “Entrepreneurship is the future for our youths. No country has been able to solve her unemployment problem without placing its youths on the pathway to entrepreneurship and I see the youths of this country blossoming in entrepreneurship.

“The world has changed; the world has gone beyond paper qualification. The world is interested in ideas, skills and that is where the future lies. Hence, the government and private sector should rise, support and take up some areas where they have developed some technology.”

Dare said his administration was committed to supporting and promoting youths’ ideas and skills for growth and development in the country.

The Director of Marketing and Innovation, JAN, Oduolayinka Osunloye, called on development stakeholders interested in the growth and development of young people to partner with the firm to groom the next generation of digital entrepreneurs.
