As the cases of coronavirus continues to increase in Nigeria and all parts of the world, Doyin Okupe, has called on every Nigerian to endeavour to put on a facemask wherever they are going out.

Okupe who was a special assistant to former President Obasanjo (media & publicity) and Senior special assistant to former President Jonathan (Public Affairs), made this call on his Twitter page on Thursday, December 10.

He particularly appealed to the aged and those with different types of diseases to heed this call as they are classified among high-risk people.

He said:

"I want to plead with fellow Nigerians to please go back to wearing face masks, especially those in the high-risk groups, which include the elderly (60 yrs and above) the obese, and those with comorbidities."Nigerians on social media have quickly led their support to his views with many saying it is necessary that mask swearing is mandated in the country.

For close to one week, the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has continued to record a steady increase in the number of new cases across the nation.

The latest record of the NCDC released on Wednesday, December 9, confirms this fear.
