Ondo court sentences three to death for armed robbery

An Ondo State High Court sitting in Akure has sentenced three men – Chidiebere Obi, Obieze Slyvanus and Ikechukwu Chukwu – to death for armed robbery.

They were arrested in 2017 for involving in armed robbery in Isolo, Plaza Road and Adegbola areas of Akure at different times and were arraigned.

They were later arraigned before the court on seven counts bordering on conspiracy and armed robbery.

The prosecution witnesses told the court that the men were masked and armed during the operation.

The police witness, Smart Akindele, told the court that his team got wind of the armed robbers’ operation in the community and swung into action leading to their arrest.

After series of arguments between the prosecuting and defence counsels, they were found guilty of the offence by the presiding judge, Justice William Olamide.
