Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has announced the launch of Crime Prevention and Management System, CPAMS, which deploys modern technology in intelligence, crime prevention & detection in the State.

The Governor made this known in a tweet via his Twitter account on Wednesday.

According to him, with Abia CPAMS, security agents will now be ahead of criminals as the technology enhances the needed synergy among police formations and hierarchy.

“Yesterday, we formally launched our novel crime fighting system code named CPAMS: Crime Prevention and Management System, which deploys modern technology in intelligence, crime prevention & detection.

“With Abia CPAMS, security agents will now be ahead of criminals as the technology enhances the needed synergy among police formations and hierarchy.

“It also helps victims and eyewitnesses to report crimes or any suspicious acts online real time with pictures and videos to the nearest police station with such reports reaching the tables of the relevant Commands, CP, AIG, IGP and even the Governor himself, all at the same time.

“CPAMS allows for the bio data, fingerprints and other vital information of suspects be taken so that serial offenders are appropriately tagged & not treated as first offenders

“To ensure the effectiveness and success of this initiative, our Government through the Abia State Ministry of Homeland Security will be providing solar power and computers to all the police stations in the State.

“This whole initiative helps ensure a safe ambience that will encourage free enterprise, sustain the pillars of development of our government and also ensure the continued safety and security of lives and property in Abia,” he said.

Recall that the Governor had earlier announced that officers of the Police force would undergo training in the use of the system.
