Super Eagles player, Chidera Ejuke hopes to achieve more in the green and white jersey than his childhood idol and former captain, Jay Jay Okocha.

Speaking in a chat with brila.net he confirmed that his role model in football is the former playmaker (Jay-Jay Okocha), and he also stated that he will work hard to surpass the achievements of the legend.

Okocha who was known for his dribbling skills is judged differently by many football analysts – where some believe the midfield maestro did not do enough during his playing days due to lack of major laurels and awards to show while still active, said Brila.net.

Some others feel that he was, and still one of Africa’s great, right from his stint in PSG where the Brazilian legend and former world footballer of the year Ronaldinho adores to date to have learned some dribbling skills from him (Okocha).

Okocha was a crucial part of the 1994 squad that won the Afcon trophy together with the gold medal in Atlanta 1996.

“Talking about Jay-Jay Okocha, he is a legend and he is someone that I look up to and for me normally, he is like an idol to me so I am just hoping that I am able to reach the level he had attained in football and hopefully I can even go pass him by God’s grace but you know, at the main time I just want to do my thing, get settled in the team as well.” he said.

Super Eagles will today square it out against the Leone stars in Benin City for the third leg of the AFCON qualifiers.
