President Muhammdu Buhari has expressed sadness over the death of Alhaji Abdulkadir Balarabe Musa, a former civilian governor of Kaduna state.

Legit.ng had reported that Musa was declared dead with Shehu Sani, a former senator representing Kaduna Central in the Nigerian Senate announcing the statesman's passing in a tweet on Wednesday, November 11.

Musa was elected governor of Kaduna state in 1979 on the platform of the People's Redemption Party (PRP), which was founded by Mallam Aminu Kano.

In a condolence message to the people of Kaduna state through his senior media aide Garba Shehu, President Buhari described the former governor as a "voice for the voiceless who remained steadfast in the call for good and inclusive governance."

Part of the statement read:

"President Buhari believes Alhaji Musa reflected the passion and vigour that heralded Nigeria’s independence, which steadily translated into activism for return to democracy at the height of military interregnum & has remained steadfast in the call for good & inclusive governance." As the former governor goes home, the President affirms that he left a bold footprint on Nigeria’s democracy, and his role in promoting good governance and development will always be remembered and appreciated by posterity."
