To mark this years' World Teachers' Day or International Teachers Day, President Muhammadu Buhari has approved a special salary scale for teachers.

According to the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, who made the announcement today at an event, the President, has also increased the years of service for teachers from 35 to 40 years.

The minister also confirmed that the implementation of the new salary scheme is to encourage teachers in delivering better service.

The 2020 theme of the World Teachers’ Day is Teachers: leading in crisis, reimagining the future.
