I don't feel defeated - Ize-Iyamu says as he celebrates successful Edo election

Osagie Ize-Iyamu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the just-concluded Edo guber election, has dismissed the claim that he is downcast by his defeat to the incumbent governor, Godwin Obaseki.

Ize-Iyamu said instead, he is proud of the exercise, coupled with the outpouring of love and maximum support by the people of the state.

The APC candidate made this known during a special thanksgiving event held in his Parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Soul Winners Assembly in Benin City on Sunday, October 4.

Ize-Iyamu, who noted that defeat is a state of mind, stated that he never felt defeated as everything happened as the will of God.

He admonished his staunch supporters not to allow the seed of defeat germinate amongst them, as God has decreed that all the “Earth is theirs”.

It would be recalled that after months of intrigues and political theatrics, Ize-Iyamu was handed a second guber defeat on Saturday, September 19, as Obaseki comfortably sailed to the shore of victory.

The Edo governor was declared the winner of the anticipated poll by INEC, having met all requirements by polling 307,955 and winning 13 out of the 18 local government areas in Edo state.

Prominent Nigerians including former vice president Atiku Abubakar, Dele Momodu, and former president Goodluck Ebele Jonathan have described Obaseki's victory as a win for democracy and end to political godfatherism.
