Ex-Nigerian under 23 star Kaseem Yebsaya reportedly lands in psychiatric clinic

Former Nigerian Under 23 star Kaseem Yebsaya is reportedly in a psychiatric hospital in Taraba state as efforts for him to get better continue by his family and those close to him.

The dream of every footballers playing the round leather game is to play to zenith of their careers which was the same ambition Kaseem Yebsaya also had while growing up.

But Yebsaya who played for Nigeria during the 1996 Olympics football qualifiers never knew that his career in football would not last.

After he helped Nigeria to qualify for the 1996 Olympic in the USA, Turkish Super Lig side, Denizlispor quickly outsmarted other European clubs and signed him on January 13, 1996.

His performances for the side made Dutch side Ajax to invite him for a trial at the end of the season as the club needed to replace some players who left after winning Champions League.

Two ex-Nigeria internationals Kanu Nwankwo and Finidi George were among the players who moved to another clubs from Ajax.

Sadly for Kaseem Yebsaya, he picked up an injury when he got to Ajax and also failed his medical and was told to leave the club's camp.

Kaseem Yebsaya was later depressed after being told to leave Ajax and was eventually deported to Lagos before returning to his state Taraba.

According to the report on BSN Sports, Kaseem Yebsaya later had mental problems and was roaming about the streets in his village until 2019 when he was captured and taken to hospital.

The report added that the player who played with the likes of Kanu Nwankwo and Okocha before the 1996 Olympics is currently receiving treatment at a psychiatric hospital and needs help.
