Sparta confirm Okoye’s invitation for Eagles friendlies

Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has been called up for next month’s international friendlies against Ivory Coast and Tunisia, his Dutch club, Sparta Rotterdam, has stated.

The Eagles take on Ivory Coast on October 9 and the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia four days later at a yet to be named venue in Austria.

“Maduka Okoye has been included in Nigeria’s final squad. With Nigeria, he will compete against Ivory Coast (on October 9) and Tunisia (October 13). The matches will be played in Austria,” the club stated on their website.

Okoye’s only appearance for the Eagles was against Brazil in a friendly in 2019.

The PUNCH learnt that 2019 Golden Eaglets captain, Samson Tijani, is also included in the squad for the games.

Tijani is currently on loan at TSV Hartberg from Red Bull Salzburg.
