5 reportedly dead in Abia building collapse

About five people are dead in Nigeria as a result of building collapse.

In another building collapse in Nigeria, about five people have reportedly lost their lives as a building collapse incident in Aba, Abia state.

According to The Nation, one person who was rescued from the rumble is receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital.

According to sources, the sad incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, September 16, after torrential rain on Tuesday.

The newspaper reports hat those who lost their lives and survivor were homeless residents that usually take refuge in the building still undergoing construction at night.

It added that the cause of the collapse has been attributed to the use of substandard materials by the contractor.
