On Sunday, September 13, Channels TV aired a live debate between two major candidates in the Edo state governorship election: Governor Godwin Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Nigerians in a Twitter poll aired their opinions regarding whom they believe won the debate.

Out of over 800 Twitter users who voted in the poll, 57% stated that Governor Obaseki won the debate while 24% were of the opinion that Ize-Iyamu was the winner.

Also, 2.3% of the respondents said the debate was drawn while 15% expressed indifference.

A similar poll was conducted by Channels TV. Though the poll did not show the number of the respondents, the result indicated Obaseki won the debate.

According to the result, 67.58% believed Obaseki won the debate while 32.42% were of the opinion that the APC candidate, Ize-Iyamu, was the winner.
