Man on wheelchair reacts to claims that wife got married to him for money

A physically challenged Nigerian man has reacted to claims from some social media users that his wife married him because of money.

Dami Akintade had shared a picture showing he and his wife on their wedding day which must have surprised many.

The picture showed him on a wheelchair while his wife stood beside him in a white wedding gown.

He wrote: "Because it seems impossible to you doesn't make it impossible for God. To social media users you believed she married me because of wealth or desperation, please note that anything worthwhile has the hand of God in it. I am a man like anyone of you out there. I am not a silver-spoon born and bred man, but I have a prospect! She married the 'personality', not the 'disability'."

He also recounted how he often prevented himself from feeling sad when kids make jest of his disability.

"For me, I love it! In fact, I love when those children add phrases like, 'He cannot walk' .... or when they say, 'Stand up and pursue me'. You know, those comments give me joy! It shows that:

1). Those little children have developed a capacity to identify physiological differences in human forms

2). I can leverage on their thoughts and perceptions to teach them something probably they'll never have learnt in life....lessons like 'Uniqueness', 'Innovation', Self-identity'... etc

3). It is an opportunity to make them understand that God is Great and Eternal.

So when they say or sing songs like, 'You cannot catch me, You cannot catch me'. Then I'll reply by singing, 'You cannot push me...You cannot push me'. With that, I'll put my wheelchair on breaks while they struggle to push. That's a challenge on their strength! So eventually, the moral lesson they go home with will be: 'One Man's Strength is not enough to measure another Man's Capacity'."
