Nigerian man accuses soldiers of beating up his family in Benue

Injuries sustained Injuries sustained

A Nigerian man has accused soldiers of the Nigerian Army of harassing his family in Benue State.

The man whose father is a second class Chief at Ukum Local Government Area of the state said that that was the second time soldiers will be harassing his family.

The soldiers are claiming that his father is responsible for the shooting of a man in Taraba State.

He tweeted: "It is so disheartening that I bring to your notice my ordeal with the @HQNigerianArmy (special force). Yesterday (7th/5/20), a trope of armed soldier men surrounded our home as of 9:30pm at tse-hangedia, tsaav ward of ukum LG of Benue state.

"My dad who is a second class chief of the LG HRH Utambe Nyagba (jp) was presently at home as of the time of incident. They searched every corner of the house, beat up my siblings and injured my elder bro with additional threat of taking him away to a place of no return as of next time. This has left me in a state of dilemma as this has been the second time such event will be taking place at our home. The @benuestategovt has kept mute on this issue as of the first happening which warrant reoccurrence.

"This has left me in shock as I don't feel safe at my biological home any more. On this note I'm calling out the @NigeriaGov @GovSamuelOrtom @citizen_gavel @segalink and anybody who in any way may render help to come to our rescue cos of the level of harrasment we are facing in this part of the state since the arrival of military personnel in this area. No one is safe in this country anymore not to talk of our homes. If not of bandits today then it will be of harrasment from military personnel tomorrow.

"They said there main reason of coming was that a man was shut at kente (Which is their place of assignments located in Taraba state) which with no prove said my father is responsible for the incident that took place and must provide the perpetrators".
