Speaking during Monday's broadcast, deputy-governor, Haruna Manu, announced the lifting of the ban, adding that Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays have been set aside to enable the residents to carry out their religious activities from 8am to 6pm.

According to Manu, the state would now observe the lockdown from Mondays to Thursdays with strict adherence to the observance of social distancing and other safety protocols.

According to The Cable, Manu stated that violators would face strict penalties.

Taraba has recorded a total number of 17 confirmed cases of the disease.

Ebonyi, Borno, Gombe and Adamawa States have also lifted the ban on religious gatherings despite the spike in Nigeria's COVID-19 cases which is now over 6100.
